Silver Diamine Fluoride

  • A treatment that has been used in Europe for a number of years and was more recently FDA approved for use in the United States

  • Silver Diamine Fluoride is a caries arresting agent meaning it is used to “freeze” cavities in the current state

  • Though it is not recommended as a definitive treatment it is useful as a temporary fix to stabilize a cavity in a tooth until a more final treatment can be used
